This Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2024 is a drive announced by Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget 2024-25. The scheme’s mission and Modi goal is to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities for Indian youth in its first year which is 2024-2025 under BJP rule, Modi further plans to expand to 1 crore internship opportunities over the next five years period. This internship focuses more on Improving employability by giving Indian youngsters practical knowledge and hands-on experience through internships with 500 of India’s top companies, covering every tech sector.

The scheme, handled by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was officially announced which is on October 3, 2024, and will be implemented through an online portal, and the registrations begin on October 12, 2024. This pilot project has already started gaining momentum from youngsters, with companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Max Life, and Alembic Pharma among the initial participants and a few more companies will join the government during this period.

Prime Minister Internship Scheme Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the PM internship scheme 2024 follows as:

1. Candidate’s age should be between 21- 24.
2. Candidates should hold qualifications such as a High School or Higher Secondary Certificate, ITI diploma, or any relevant stream in bachelor’s degree in fields like BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BTech, or BBA.
3. Candidates should be available for 6 to 12 months.
4. Candidates who trained at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Kaushal Kendras (skill centers) are eligible for this scheme.

To stand out during the selection process, candidates are informed to possess or develop additional skills such as

1. Strong communication,
2. Problem-solving abilities,
3. Strong Technical knowledge of know-how relevant to their field, and a collaborative mindset.

Who is not eligible for Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2024

Candidates who are applying for Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2024 should be aware that a few Young individuals are not eligible to apply. Specifically:

1. Individuals from families with government employees are not eligible to participate in the scheme.
2. Graduates from big institutions such as IITs and IIMs are not eligible for this scheme.

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2024 offers a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 to selected interns participating in the internship program. Additionally, every intern will get a one-time assistance of ₹6,000 to intern accounts. Selection Process in Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2024.

Candidates who apply for Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme 2024 will be selected through a structured process outlined by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Selection process steps are mentioned below:

1. Registration: Interested candidates should register in the designated PM INternship portal Via Online. The registration period will close on October 12, 2024.(as this government scheme’s last date to apply may be extended but apply ASAP)
2. Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must belong to backward families whose annual income lies between 0 to ₹8 lakh for the financial year 2023-24.
3. Shortlisting Process: A list of selected candidates will be generated from the government side and made available to participating companies by October 26, 2024, for further selection of candidates.
4. Final Selection by Companies: Participating Companies will review the shortlisted candidate’s list and application form if companies find the candidate’s application is eligible for internship and further make their final selections by November 27, 2024.
5. Internship Starts Dates: The internships are scheduled to start on December 2, 2024, as per the resource and will last for a duration of 6-12 months based on the internship requirements.

NOTE: The dates mentioned above may differ since this is a government scheme. If any candidate is shortlisted by the government end but the final decision to select the candidate for an internship lies with the companies involved in providing internships, which means companies may have the authority to reject or modify the candidate’s internship roles and time duration at any time selected by the government during the application process.
